I drew this because I had a request to draw an abstract picture of Buddha and trainee monks from a president of a company for decoration in his room and
company.
When I had an offer from the president, I remembered the Buddhist monk who emanated a mysterious aura when I met him in a temple in Kyoto.
He was a AJARI (a highest rank monk) of TENDAISYU (Tendai Sect), I strongly felt that I wanted to draw the form of AJARI in the SENNICHIKAIHOUGYOU (One Thousand Day of Peak Circumambulation) as known as extremely hard
training. This drawing became an interesting work that share inspiration from each other.
